Description

This is the final step to Another Flower Colored.

This is where I put in the darkest darks and lightest lights. :D

Done in color pencil on 11/20/11.

I wanted to do something with lots of different colors. The point to doing this step by step was to see the actual process and to show that each one can look completed even if it's not. :XD:

I appreciate you adding in links to your previous steps. I always enjoy seeing an artist's progress through to the end of the piece. It gives the audience that unique insider perspective which aids in understanding how you got to your finished and beautiful piece.

I have always been a huge fan of bright colors and you have plenty here even after it looks like you've softened the reds of the petals from your work in progress shots. It makes the piece more delicate and soft than a bolder or more defined red would. I really enjoy what you've done with the leaves. The way you've gone through and outlined portions of the leaf vein with lights and darks is really phenomenal. It gives it a lot more dimension than it would have otherwise.

The rose itself is wonderful in design. You must've had a reference or a rose on your desk when you made this because it works so well. :) I feel like we're missing the thorns that most roses seem to have, but the soft color pencil technique you've used only seems to make this a very people-friendly rose through and through.

Lastly, I enjoy your simple blue background. The hatchmarks are simple, provide texture (which keeps us from being bored), and makes the rose stand out really well. Even the blending on the edges only adds to the whole piece. This is very nice work. Thank you for sharing your art! =D
